ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Quickening is a character-driven horror-drama set in a working-class Texas border town. The story follows a gifted young trumpet player whose chance at escape collides with violent prophetic visions tied to a missing boy. 

ROLE: PETER MARTINEZ (LEAD)

Age: 18–25 (Must look early college years age)

Ethnicity: Latino (Mexican-American preferred)

Peter is intelligent, emotionally volatile, and spiritually conflicted. He begins experiencing prophetic visions tied to a missing boy, forcing him to confront fate, faith, and escape. Demands significant emotional range and realism.

ROLE: ELIZABETH MARTINEZ (SUPPORTING LEAD)

Age: 35–45

Ethnicity: Latina

MUST KNOW SPANISH

Peter’s mother. Fierce, wounded, manipulative, and loving. A survivor whose choices have consequences. Requires an actor capable of playing contradiction without caricature.

ROLE: DANNY SEGOVIA (SUPPORTING)
Age: 18–25

Ethnicity: Latino

Peter’s best friend. Charismatic, dangerous, emotionally conflicted. Represents the path of survival at any cost. Strong physical and emotional presence required.

ROLE: ANAYA (RECURRING GUEST)

Age: 18–25

Ethnicity: Latina

Local TV reporter. Smart, dry, self-aware. A truth-seeker stuck in a system designed to suppress truth.

ROLE: GHOST BOY (FEATURED)
Age: 12–16

Ethnicity: Latino

A missing child who appears in visions. Quiet, haunting, symbolic. Minimal dialogue, maximum emotional precision.
